The Haralson Apple

“It’s like taking a bite of history!”


Name: Haralson


Origin: It debuted in 1922, developed by University of Minnesota. Used to be the most popular apple until the Honeycrisp took over the number one spot. The Haralson apple was named after Charles Haralson, who was the superintendent of the University of Minnesota Fruit Breeding Program.


Appearance: Red, dark red, and hints of maroon with faint white little speckles 


Flavor: Tart, firm, and complex with white flesh


Texture: Firm


Season: Late September–early October 


Storage: 1–2 months refrigerated 


Use: A popular eating apple! A trusty tart pie apple; it’s great for cooking and baking!
