We are the Garvin family and we're so glad you’re here! 

Who we are

Steve and Tami—better known as “Ma” and “Pa” to their 5 grandchildren—spent their first 20 years in Dallas, TX raising their three sons. In 2001, they moved back home to Buffalo, NY but soon enough, their kids led them to a whole new Buffalo: Buffalo, MN! 

Oldest son Jack and his wife Kirsten have three sons; Graham, Tucker, and Smith. Middle son Ben and his wife Kate have one son, Wade. Youngest son Grant, our General Manager, and his wife Calli have one daughter, Nora. Each member of our growing family contributes their unique talents to make our orchard what it is today. 

We are proud to serve the Buffalo, Minnesota community and beyond with our fresh, hand-picked apples. Find us at the Minneapolis and Elk River Farmers Markets during the fall season, and stay tuned for updates for the 2022 season!

Why we love our orchard

Crunch, crunch, crunch. We were walking through the snow-covered orchard on a brisk Minnesota February day. We were pondering all things apples and dreaming about what could be. If you’ve ever seen an apple orchard during the winter, it's beautiful—but barren. Then we all stopped and, as we each took a breath of fresh arctic air, we paused for a second. Everything was still and quiet. It was hard to picture the orchard any other way or imagine what the next season could be. 

Dormancy is a funny thing. The trees looked wintry and naked but you could sense that something was stirring beneath the soil. Could it have been all the orchard creatures, great and small, foraging around? Could it have been our little red fox friend and his family? Or was it the overwhelming sense that, whatever the next season brings, we believe in taking leaps of faith. There’s no greater joy than being able to look back at the journey, and there is no journey without a little leap of faith.    

Spring, Summer, and then Fall came and we fell in love with apples. It’s not just the the fruit we produce, the apple, that we fell in love with.   

The entire apple origin-story brings us joy. As we immerse ourselves more and more in the wondrous history and future of cultivating apples, we are ever more amazed. From the ancestry to the varieties that are being born every year, the evolution is incredible! If you give yourself the gift of exploring apples, you can curl up and get lost in wonder. And that’s what we want to bring to not only our table but to your table—the marvel of the apple.
