The SnowSweet Apple

“At times when I have been faced with the choices of different heirloom varieties to try, I know if I don't know anything about any of the apples, then name will have an effect on what I choose to try. When an apple has a name like "Snow Sweet"—that is a name that is going to garner some attention, including mine.” – Eric Samuelson, Eat Like No One Else

Name: SnowSweet

Origin: The SnowSweet was developed for cold hardiness by the University of Minnesota. It was introduced commercially in 2006. SnowSweet is a hybrid between the Sharon and Connell Red apple

Appearance: It’s a beautiful and unique bronze-red, with a subtle maroon blush over a green-yellow base.

Flavor: Sweet and mildly tart with substance. Some people have even said, “slightly buttery”. The SnowSweet has a majestic, snow-white flesh that oxidizes slowly so apple slices tend to stay attractive for longer time

Texture: Firm

Season: Mid-October

Storage: 2 months, refrigerated

Use: Great off-the-tree eating apple! Nice in salads & snack trays because it stays appetizing in appearance. Great for baking and applesauce!
